Broughty Golf Club
Founded in 1878, Broughty Golf Club is
one of the original golf clubs in Monifieth and has a proud tradition
based on the undoubted sociability of the club. Broughty's history is
a fascinating journey through the development both of golf and the British
Empire with many founding members returning from posts abroad and having
their legacy remembered in competitions such as the India Medal and
Calcutta Cup.
Visitors are assured of a very warm welcome
at Broughty with a full range of meals and refreshments available from
breakfast through to dinner.
The club has an excellent range of facilities
- both the main and upstairs lounges have a lovely outlook on the 18th
green of the Medal course. The downstairs lounge has a very well stocked
bar with a discreet television viewing area, just in front of the trophy
cabinet. On one of the other walls, the history of the club can be traced
in the names of captains, club champions and honorary life members.
Upstairs there is a smaller lounge complete
with pool table and another television, to save any disputes over who
watches what.
The Club also has a separate dining room
where members and visitors are extremely well cared for and extremely
well fed by Doreen Orr and her staff. Visitors to the two courses at
Monifieth can have the full range of meals throughout the day from the
welcoming bacon rolls and coffee to a light or full lunch and on to
high teas and dinners.
Facilities for visitors are first class
with separate changing facilities and the opportunity for a shower at
the end of a round.
Bookings for catering can be made by contacting
the Club on 01382 532147.
